Itunes 8 Pinoy Store: You need a Credit Card to use it!

itunes 8's new feature is a called GENIUS SIDEBAR

To activate Genius Sidebar (the Pandora like song referral service, "You might like this if you like to listen to that...), you need to have an Itunes Account. I did exactly that -and get this --I selected Philippines as the Store and it asked me for a CREDIT CARD. Of course it did not proceed if I don't give it -so I did. This means kids if you don't have a credit card - you MIGHT not be able to take advantage of the Genius Feature. So much for being a Pandora (or it's Zune Equivalent) clone.

I'm not sure though if it will work for non-valid cards - after all- they're asking for a card even though NOTHING is to be purchased.

iTunes Genuis Sceenshot
Note: It will process your entire music and video collection. It will send info to Apple as of now after doing my 200GB collection, it's still sending to Apple whatever it got. I'm still waiting.

There's another Genius though, the Genius Playlist w/c is an autoplaylist creator. I've yet to see it work and will report once I get to run it.

Using Genius with Itunes 8 - You'll need a Credit Card for Philippines Account. Plus GRID View and Beat Detector Visualization

Apple - iTunes - What’s new in iTunes.

iTunes 8 Download

Okay, the good news. The Philippine Itunes Store now Officially Exists! I installed the Itunes 8 version after the Apple Event early this morning. Yes, I know the Philippine and the Singapore Sites were STILL not updated but the US site was. How to find the US site? Just do a search for REFURBISHED IPOD and you'll go to the US site. Click inside for the ITUNES link. Download!

Now it's done installing itself and processing ALL my album art in my 150 gb Music Collection and Processing Thumbnails of my 92 GB video collection. Yes, it will take time to create the GRID view that Steve was talking about.

Oh here's the grid view off the Apple Site:

iTunes Views Screenshot
This is what it looks like. Of course -in my collection, I've lots of "NO IMAGES".

Now, about Genius (What's majorly new in Itunes 8)

To activate Genuis (the Pandora like song referral service, "You might like this if you like to listen to that...), you need to have an Itunes Account. I did exactly that -and get this --I select Philippines as the Store and it asked me for a CREDIT CARD.

Strange.

A few hours later it's still SENDING the info to Apple to come up with Recommendations. Of course it feels suspicious because I cannot see what it's sending but knowing this - I know Apple now has an idea what my music collection looks like, I'm sure and I DON'T MIND. I do mind is that it's taking a whole lot of time "sending the info".

So about Kevin Rose's prediction (more like official leaks) that the Magnetosphere Vizualization will be included in the Itunes 8. I haven't seen Magnetosphere so I'm not sure if the NEW ITUNES VISUALIZATION is it. But it sure looks good. And get this - I played an Ibiza Track on it -and it looks like it has  a good BEAT DETECTOR. The graphics pulsate with the beat in the CORRECT TIME. - unlike other VIZ.

It does look like globes and party confetti, not unlike the Physics Electric Globe of your high school physics room.  If you've seen the underrated Hugh Jackman and Christian Bale movie "The Prestige" - you'll know what I mean.  The screenshots don't do justice though.

This one from the Apple Site:

iTunes Visualizer Screenshot
From the site: Turn on the new Visualizer and lose yourself in a 3D-scape of spheres, ribbons, and lights that pulsate to the beat and tempo of the song you’re playing.

Review N70 + Yahoo: Trying out Yahoo! oneSearch™ shortcut on my Nokia N70: Greeted by an error message.

Yahoo! oneSearch™ shortcut.
Get faster answers on your Nokia phone.

I just entered my Smart telephone number and Yahoo texted me the link to get the Yahoo Mobile Services.
I've had the N70 for 2 years so Yahoo is not built in. Result:

Sorry the Page you requested is temporarily unavailable. Please try again later. Yahoo Error Code 004 Cannot retrieve Source.

I then clicked on the Yahoo link and selected Download Yahoo Go 3.0! (761 KB).
It opened another site where I had to scroll down to ACTUALLY download the thing.
Install Yahoo Go? Y/N
Im beginning to think that a WINDOWS programmer created the Series 60 Nokia OS.
Too many questions!
It's now installing.
I'm actually not sure of ONE SEARCH and Go is the same thing. But I'm trying it out anyway.
Who did these product names? They're so hard to understand.

Okay, It said, Close Browser and Open it again.
Very Windows.
This N70 with Smart is taking its sweet time CLOSING DOWN.
Remember, I'm not interested in using Yahoo as a Mobile Start Page. I want that oneSearch.
I now go to Menu --< My Own and select Yahoo Go!
Allow Yahoo Go to access network?
Select Network
You can see how it's going to be impossible for people to use this on a MASS SCALE.
TOO MANY QUESTIONS and all I wanted to do was do a search for the new IPOD NANO 4G!
Select Your Country
WOW. Isn't that kinda obvious from the LOCATION DATA the phone has of the cell sites?
Accept or Decline TOS (Terms of Service)
Do you have a Yahoo ID? Yes/No
Enter Username and Password
Select Access Point
Signing in.
It says It can connect my email to the phone. I'm not interested and it's not giving me a choice but to wait.
This feels like one of those INFO windows give to entertain you during a long install.
It's still signing in.
Ok. That wasn't what I expected to have on my phone.
Eventually I went back to the phone's Yahoo menu and selected OneSearch
It installed and now it's working!!!
Search that works faster than you can type.
One click access to search. Now I can see that the 3G is working so I have to turn it off because I will be charged.

But I install the Messenger portion first before I do that.
It asks me for username and password.
It's taking time to Sign In
